Shop Talk With Faking It Flawless

Store Name - Faking it Flawless The Boutique **NOW NAMED** Salt and Freckles Boutique
Tell us a little about your store...
What started as a mission for my two sisters and I to have bronze skin without sun damage, has become a full fledged clothing/beachwear boutique + custom airbrush tanning studio in our hometown of Santa Clarita.  The shop is nestled in the oldest part of town, just the way we like it, with mom and pops all around us.  Good people who support good local businesses and passionate ventures. I like to think that we have a little bit of everything for the California girl that can't decide (and in our opinion, shouldn't have to) if she's a boho beach babe, casual girl that falls for every perfect basic, or the uber fashionista rockin it out at the best dive bar in town.  We gravitate toward classic pieces with a little wow factor.  And we're suckers for swimsuits.
Favorite Boys and Arrows product?
Not. Easy.  Boys and Arrows is by far our best-selling swim line at the shop.  I think its because they've taken what we all love about a classic bikini and made it even better and more fun to rock.  Their swimwear turns heads without being over-the top.  Which is why Kiki the Killer would have to be our go-to bottom.  Just enough sass and just enough ass.  Are we allowed to say that?  We digress.  We love Kiki paired with Val the Villain...we've got it in the shop now in the new Seaglass color-way and can't get enough!!  Its a saucy combination with feminine details, which is totally our jam.
Any exciting news for the store?
We have recently started pouring a lot more love into our webstore,, which has been a great way for our clients to score pieces from the Boutique that they see on our social media pages, even if they can't make it in to see us in person!!  Its been a lot of fun to style out some our shoots with models that have become part of the Faking it Flawless fam.  Plus, its been a great creative outlet and fun way for us to show clients how we would rock some of our favorite merch!!
Any events happening?
We are in the process of planning a "Beach, Bikinis and Brats 4th of July Pre-Party and BBQ" at the shop Saturday, June 27th from 1-5!!  Participants will score access to our bikini sale, our famous Deal Wheel, a rockin braid bar with one of our favorite local hair stylists,  and some delicious bbq and cocktails to kick off our favorite summer holiday in style.  Plus, we have our annual Old Town Newhall Block Party coming up this summer.  The Block Party is one of our biggest events of the year, and a great way to support all of the local businesses in our community!! Check out our instagram @fakingitflawless or Facebook page for more details!!
Favorite summer cocktail?
We'll take whatever we can get our hands on. Beer, Margarita, Vino, Tequila.
On your playlist right now?
We love music.  I'd say we're a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll...but it sort of depends on who is manning the station.  Right now we're jammin out to a little Nikki Lane, White Buffalo, and Ryan Bingham, but classics are a mainstay.  Our pops taught us how to love good live music. So we always have a little Tom Petty, Led Zeppelin, Creedance Clearwater, Merle Haggard, Stones, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Marshall Tucker Band, etc on the playlist. We might even throw in a little Beyonce to keep things interesting.
Anything else you would like to add?
The Boutique is run solely by my sisters and I and has been one of the greatest adventures we've gotten ourselves into.  We do all of the buying, daily operations, photography and management.  We ship every item ourselves and make every decision together.  Majority rules. We keep things simple and pour ourselves into this little space that has hopefully brought a lot of joy and style to a small little town we have always called home.  And we couldn't be more grateful for all of the love it has given us in return. xo
